It’s not easy being green

CHEESY BLOG TITLE ALERT!!! I love it.

Green smoothies. All those health conscious people have been spouting on about the virtues of green smoothies for long enough to have me curious. I have smoothies for breakfast about three times a week, and on the weekend decided to go green.

Here’s how it looked:

Oh yeah. Newsflash: They’re not lying when they say it’s tasty. Load it up with fruit and that’s what you’ll taste. But you’ll still get the green goodness.

My first green smoothie was on Saturday (St Patty’s day! Win!) and I followed this recipe to a tee. Here’s how it looked pre-blending:

I feel healthy just seeing all that spinach!

I’m not the biggest peanut butter fan though (despite my love of satay…weird) so today I toned that down a bit, and upped the fruit quantity a bit with some frozen raspberries and boysenberries. It looked, um, not green. But a little something like this:

Make your own - add other green veges for bonus points.

Green monster smoothie

1 banana (best frozen but fresh is good too)
1/2 cup greek yoghurt
1/2 tablespoon peanut butter
1 cup skim milk
1/2 cup frozen raspberries
1/2 cup frozen boysenberries
Top up with spinach - probably about 3 cups or so

Add everything to the blender, and blend blend blend till it’s smooth. Pour into a glass, top with an umbrella and bask in your healthiness.

You can also add some LSA or other goodness for an extra hit of healthy, but I’m all out at the mo.

Enjoy!
