Burger on your face
Never before have I enjoyed have food dripping down my face as much as I did one Sunday night last month.
Brilliantly cold Auckland weather, the slow cooker on all day, and this - the reward: BBQ pulled chicken burgers.

I used the recipe from How Sweet It is and it is definitely up there on the yummy list. We got a bunchload of servings from the recipe - our freezer is looking mighty tasty right now.
Please go make it. On a weekend, so that you can enjoy the smells all day long. But I bet coming home to a house smelling of bbq chicken on a weekday would be pretty awesome too. Oh yes.
I’ve changed the recipe a little based on what I had in the house, and it was still delicious.
Crockpot BBQ Beer Chicken
2 chicken breasts
1 T onion powder
1 T smoked paprika
1 t garlic powder
1/2 t salt
1/2 t pepper
240ml beer
700ml bbq sauce (I used hickory smoked)
Mix together the onion powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Coat the chicken with it.
Put the chicken in the base of the slow cooker and cover with the beer and bbq sauce. Note the original recipe adds 3/4 of the sauce at this stage but I missed that and added it all. No biggie.
Cook on low for 8 hours, giving it a stir and flipping the chicken once or twice if you realllllllllly want to.
After 8 hours, take the chicken out and shred. Add the remainder of the bbq sauce if you didn’t add it all in the previous step like me!
Serve however you want. Sitting the slow cooker in your lap and eating with a fork straight out of it is totally ok, but for the best experience, slap a bunch inbetween a hamburger bun (vegetables optional) and chow down.
Have copious amounts of paper towels near by.
Take photos of your face covered in bbq sauce. I’ll be doing that next time.
