Girl makes fire

A very small fire, mind you. Excuse the lack of photo, but, y’know, there was a fire.

It was quite amusing really, because it all stemmed from my complete awesomeness of forgetting that you can’t really put metal type things in a microwave. And that the foil wrapped butter I just put in there counts as a metal type thing.

Before the flame, there was this really cool spark. It kind of looked like lightning. Apparently my face was all kinds of brilliant.

Anyway. Microwave still works. Butter still softened. I feel a little bit dumber. But still, entertaining.

Cheeseburger 2.0

On Saturday night we had some friends over to play circle of death. We ended up playing four rounds of the game, a bit of rock band and lots of chatter. I ended up drinking TWO whole bottles of bubbly. You are correct if you are thinking that Sunday was a bit of a nightmare for me. In preparing for the festivities, I made a few dishes that I thought would mop up all the alcohol quite nicely. Garlic rolls, chips’n’dip and cheeseburger spring rolls.

Cinnamon roll muffins

There is nothing better than cinnamon rolls straight out of the oven. I had one when I was in the USA a few years back. It was goooood.

This last month, I’ve been obsessed. I’ve been craving them so bad and last week, when we were told we had to bake something for morning tea for the boss for Monday, I just knew I had to give in and make some.

Thai wonton cups

Happy Friday everyone! I hope you all have mega awesome plans for the weekend! Mine include three movies, slow cooker lamb shanks, cinnamon rolls and sleep ins!

A few weeks ago I went to a mates for a sangria tasting party. The purpose was to find the best sangria recipe for a friend to use later in the year. I’ll post more about the sangria later (suffice to say, yummy!). It was a bring a plate affair, and with five couples attending, the food was plentiful and deeeelicious. Along with cheesy bread I made these Thai Wonton Cups. I’d actually been craving them for AGES (like, about a year. Seriously). This was the perfect occasion to make them. They went down a hit and lucky you, now get the recipe!

Burger on your face

Never before have I enjoyed have food dripping down my face as much as I did one Sunday night last month.

Brilliantly cold Auckland weather, the slow cooker on all day, and this - the reward: BBQ pulled chicken burgers.

Post gym - so bad, so good - snack

There was this time I went to the gym and worked really hard and sweated loads. It was pretty awesome. And then because I knew you’re meant to eat something, preferably part carb, part protein after the gym, I made a snack. It was part carb. It had a bit of protein. But it’s probably not what the healthy people recommend.

Zucchini is yum. Eat it like this.

Do you remember last Wednesday when I said I really wanted to make these? I know you do. It was a good day.

Well. I totally made them. I can’t remember if it was that night or the next night, but they were definitely in my belly within 48 hours of posting that.

And boy they tasted goooooood.

A bowl of cheese

This is not a recipe to win friends. It’s not a recipe to make when you’re trying to impress people. It’s not a recipe to make if you’re actively trying to not get fat.

It’s a recipe for close friends. Friends you don’t mind sharing cheese with. It’s a recipe for comfort food.

Like a Friday night when you have a cold and you have friends coming for dinner.

Also, if you have friends coming for dinner…this could totally fill them up and leave them unable to eat dinner. Until 10pm when you kind of force it down them, and then send them home with half the dessert cos they’re too full to eat it. Yeah.
